It is a crime to not tell the USCIS about your change of address within 10 days of the change. You can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned for 30 days if you are convicted of failing to tell USCIS of your new address. You may also be removed from the United States. Failing to notify USCIS can make it difficult to get a future visa or other immigration benefits.
Additionally, failing to report your address may cause you to miss important notices. This could lead to your application being denied because you failed to submit requested information or to attend interviews and other appointments.
Parents or legal guardians of non-citizens under age 14 who are required to report address changes can also be convicted and punished if they do not file the AR-11 for the child.
